Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st Edition Magician’s Force Booster Box

This magicians force booster box is a sealed 1st Edition display of Magician’s Force, set code MFC. Then, Upper Deck released the set in North America on October 10, 2003. The box holds 24 packs, and each pack holds 9 cards. The set leans hard into Spellcasters. So fans of Dark Magician and his circle chase this box first.

The chases in a magicians force booster box

Dark Magician Girl (MFC-000) headlines the set as a Secret Rare. For example, this printing was her first appearance in the game. Then, Dark Paladin (MFC-105) follows as the Ultra Rare cover card. Breaker the Magical Warrior (MFC-071) and Tribe-Infecting Virus (MFC-076) add two era-defining pulls. Meanwhile, Diffusion Wave-Motion (MFC-107) takes the second Secret Rare slot. Konami’s official Yu-Gi-Oh! site shows how far the Spellcaster line has grown since.

First Unions, first Spell Counters

A magicians force booster box also marks two mechanical debuts. Magician’s Force introduced Union monsters to the game. It also launched the Spell Counter mechanic, which Spellcaster decks still use. In addition, Amazoness support fills out the rest of the 108-card set. First Edition cards carry the printed 1st Edition text under the artwork, and they come only from the first print run. An Unlimited printing of this set also exists, so check the stamp when you compare boxes. Browse our sealed products for more vintage sealed displays. As a result, many of those first Spell Counter cards stayed playable for years. Collectors therefore read this set as a mechanics milestone, not just a chase box.
